I'm a self-taught artist living in Louisville Kentucky. I started regularly drawing around 1999 while I was in high school. A major ifactor in me getting interested in making art was the support my sister gave me when I was starting out and her getting me different art supplies to try out. She gave me an art book made by Indianapolis-based artist Nathaniel Russell whose style had a major influence on me, as did the art of Louisville-based artist Marvin Finn.
Much of my work is based around things I find interesting, lyrics or phrases I've heard, or whatever happens to come to mind while I am making it. To me art is an escape, so it relies on spontaneity and not spending too much time overthinking things. There isn't an underlying theme or message, I just do it because it's fun.
My main focus for the past few years has been almost exclusively painting on wood cut-outs that I make, occasionally drawing, wood-burning, engraving, and stop-motion animation.
